Rue

Teresa Ruebel is a visual artist and musician based in Berlin and Marseille. She was raised in a family of classical musicians and received her first training on the violoncello from her father. She went on to win regional and national prizes in Germany, performed with the NDR JSO at the Elbphilharmonie concert hall, with the LJO Bremen at the Cultural Capital of Europe Festival in Plovdiv, and recorded an album with the rock band Lyxz.

Influenced by the polyphony and volume of the orchestra as well as the narrative depth of opera, Teresa always seeks out complex sounds and harmonies, unity of form and content as well as layered meanings in music. Although music was a constant presence at home, her parents valued silence outside of rehearsals and performances. Therefore Teresa's early interest in rap, hip hop, trap and other contemporary styles began as a kid when she and her sister borrowed CDs from the local library and copied them onto their home computer. During her youth, she divided her time between techno clubs, performing with various orchestras, and attending band rehearsals.

While studying at the UdK Berlin, Teresa developed a visual art practice while also working as a junior culture critic for Tagesspiegel Berlin. She has since published several poetry books and magazines. From 2021 to 2025 she was an editorial member of wedontknowradio in Berlin, becoming its creative director in 2025.
