Outre-Mondes

Every first Thursday every two months.

Outre-Mondes is woven four-handed and spoken through two voices. Baba-nek and Baba-nass move between writing and musical improvisation to create singular narrative soundscapes. Together, they craft dreamlike horizons shaped by a contemporary, rare, sensitive and surprising sonic curation.

When she is not working with Baba-nass, Baba-nek — or simply Nek, as she is often called — moves across many practices to explore storytelling in a sensory and organic way. Since 2021, she has been a visceral and disruptive conductor of the dancefloor, approaching DJing with sonic athleticism and weaving cinematic, textured, groovy and adventurous musical tapestries.

Baba-nass, also known as Xanass, shapes metamorphic sound landscapes that shift between the fleeting vitality of dancefloors and the quiet intimacy of listening and narration. Her musical identity is versatile, where genres collide and merge in a joyful blend of rolling basslines, sharp rhythms and living, crawling textures.

Outre-Mondes offers a multitude of immersive sonic journeys, situated somewhere between a DJ set and an audio-story. Their inspiration draws from folklore and its oral transmission. The tale itself is hybrid, ever-changing, adapting to different listening contexts: from late-night radio to early morning softness, from half-sleep to ecstatic dance, for the very young, the not-so-young, and everyone in between (from ages 3 to 103).

By navigating the imaginary territories of desirable futures, their work invites listeners to shift their attention toward the present. Through the ritual of musical absorption that defines Outre-Mondes, they cast small spells to call upon transgenerational memories and illuminate their hidden spaces. They welcome visitors on the threshold, to plant seeds, let them sprout, and nurture our relationship with the living world. They come to share their lived experiences and amplify the perspectives of flinta* people, exploring what lies beside, outside the frame — the margins where magic becomes possible.
