Kray Atief

Every last Tuesday every two months

Kray Atief is an Amsterdam-based DJ with Indonesian roots, operating at the intersection of dub-infused pressure, broken rhythms and leftfield techno. Through residencies on Komrad, Echobox Radio and Radio Hinter, he shapes sets that balance weight and space, drawing from UK soundsystem culture, early dubstep, industrial grit and off-axis techno. His selections move with intention — sometimes sparse and meditative, other times raw, heavy and driving — always sculpted around tension, shift and release. Whether on air or on a club system, he builds narrative-led journeys that treat sound as force, emotion and movement.

His artistic approach is grounded in the rhythms of everyday life: the textures he touches, the spaces he crosses, the contexts he navigates. From these seemingly mundane inputs, he shapes evolving soundscapes that mirror his inner state and the pulse of the city around him. Each broadcast becomes a sonic diary, an intuitive translation of Brussels’ subtle chaos into sound.

What sets this residency apart is its built-in unpredictability. Every episode is crafted from the atmosphere of a single day — a momentary state, captured once. It isn’t a show designed to be repeated, but one meant to be experienced in its fleeting form.
