A Hungry Mutt is the shared alias of Tim and Roza, a Brussels-based duo united by a deep love for eclectic sounds. Roza is a selector rooted in 54 Sound, a dub- and reggae-minded sound system, while Tim is a dedicated vinyl collector fascinated by doom, sludge and black metal. They come from very different musical worlds, yet meet naturally in the charged, adventurous space where their influences collide.
Their artistic approach is built on crafting musical journeys that move fluidly through shifting moods — from dark, heavy textures to warm, uplifting atmospheres. They draw inspiration from sound system culture, underground metal, punk, and any sonic fragment that resonates emotionally. For them, contrast is not a clash but a narrative tool: a way of shaping intensity, release, tension and tenderness within the same arc.
For their Microwave residency, A Hungry Mutt focuses on deep listening. After launching curated sessions at Mona last spring with the 54 soundsystem, they continue to explore this approach by digging through their record collections and weaving unexpected connections: metal into dub, punk into ambient, distortion into calm. The residency is an invitation to embrace contrasts, discover hidden dialogues between genres, and find stories in the spaces where sounds meet.
